A practitioner of yoga for years, a new walk I have began with Yahuah (Yahweh). Most of us call him God , but when you go deep into a personal relationship..you get personal on a first name basis . ( I won’t be bothered with the convincing that the Almighty’s name is Yah..just a few moments of research and you can know yourself).
Today I am here to bring us closer to the Great One, Yah, God, El Shaddai . By means of Yoga! It has been long thought in religious circles that the two can not mix, but as a woman of the word with a continuously growing relationship with Father Yah..he showed me different.
I have been going through rough seas, as we all often do. It is life’s (Yah’s) way of teaching, grooming, and readying us for the next great season of our life.
I had a quiet sabbath as my mind and heart raced with so much! I could not shut them off for long..as soon as sabbath evening came to a close..there were those pesky thoughts, feelings, and whirlwind of emotions..
As I graced this Monday morn, my eyes flew open at 3:29 a.m. and they were at it again. Not able to close my eyes til 6:00 a.m. , I found some sleep. Awakening in an hour and having class to teach at 8 a.m. , I decided I would do my self and my students a favour by using the hour I had to realign my mind, heart and spirit .
I quickly made a fresh fruit salad and then opened the door to the fresh morning air, and took a few deep, longing breaths – my eyes closed into peace. It did not take long for me to find a flow of yoga poses on my bright blue mat. I must have done about 30 minutes of breathing and stretching from pose to pose.
For those interested, I flowed from a standing mountain pose with deep breaths to half forward-fold then into a deep sitting squat ( malasana). From there I flowed into a full forward-fold as much as I could, and then made my way to downward dog.
A few reps of downward dog to plank to warm my arms, and then unto my knees into the all-fours position for deep flow breathing with cow-cat rotations. Raising up into downward dog again, I made it into pigeon pose on both sides. Giving each side as much as they needed in the pigeon, I then gently made it back to downward dog. Another few rounds of cow-cat, and made my rest in childs pose ( with head resting to the side, giving each side of my neck a stretch).
It is here I was met quietly with the following revelation..
Yoga does nothing but strip away our anxieties, worries, and fears ( all those things that scripture has told us to release – Matt 6: 25 – 33 ). And as the fears, and worries subside, we have much more space and time to spend with Yah. In essence, Yoga draws us away from the physical temporary conditions, and places us in the spiritual eternal expanse where we meet our Abba Yah.
As we focus on our breath in yoga, we find release and peace. Our inner and outer parts refreshed by the personal meeting with what some call the higher self..but what is the higher self if not Abba Yah..the Great One that has created all and created (hu)man in his image and likeness..Mind, Body, Spirit.
For all Yah does is Great. And this practice of yoga is no different. The practice can be used for a mighty variety of things..as is everything in the world. But when combined with the presence of Yah, the beauty unfolds. We do not just relax and refine, but find ourselves in deep (personal) relation with All That Is, Aleph-Tav (Alpha-Omega) , Abba Yah. The One who is, was, and will always BE.
Hope you are blessed by the message
